The Advancements of Biafra...The Country That Could Have Been

Between 1967-1970, a time before many of us using the internet today were born, there was a country within a country that became advanced from necessity. The Biafran war/Nigerian civil war was fought during that time-frame, between the Nigerian government and the new government of Biafra (led by the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu). Biafra comprised of all the states that currently make up the south eastern part of Nigeria, and also some states in the Niger Delta region. The people felt unjustly treated by the Nigerian government and felt secession was the best option.

The war was eventually lost by the Biafrans, but in those three years, necessity birthed a lot of inventions that could have made the region really great if built open. Refineries were built, weapons for war were made locally, advanced means of telecommunication for that time was also built. Below are some excerpts from Ojokwu's last war time speech from 2010.
