There is no Such Thing as Luck: The Beyonce Story

I cringe when I hear people talk about some individuals as being lucky, and being blessed by God. If people knew what this so-called lucky people had to go through to get where they are, they would understand that there is no such thing as luck. Continuous dedication and hard-work towards a course always pays off in the end, and it appears to the onlooker as luck. I started this series last month to showcase the back-stories of most successful people that the public might not know about. I am not here to speak on the illegal things they did, I know that's what some lazy people want to read about. No, there is no such thing as a secret group called 'Illuminati.'

If you work hard towards a course and believe you are capable of achieving your goal, it might take some time, but you will achieve it at the end. So, this series shows the dedication that most successful people had to put in over the years before they became success stories. Beyonce is one of the most successful musicians of our time, but luck had nothing to do with her long road to stardom.

*At age 8 (1990), she was in an all female singing group with Kelly Rowland and 4 other girls called Girl's Tyme. The girl-group went through failed competitions and auditions over the years, and also reshuffling of the group, till Destiny's Child was formed in 1997. For 7 years, Beyonce continuously worked on her talent, being persistent through the guidance of her parents, till she made it at 16.

*In 1995, after Beyonce and the girl-group (Girl's Tyme) had been singing at auditions (and shows) for 5 years, trying to get recognition with no success, Beyonce's father (Mathew Knowles) quit his job to manage the group full time. This cut their family (Beyonce's family) earnings in half, and they had to move into a smaller apartment.

*After Mathew Knowles started managing the group full-time, Girl's Tyme auditioned for a recording deal with Elektra Records, and got signed. But they were dropped from the label shortly afterwards. This backward move put a strain on Beyonce's family, and her parents separated briefly. But her father kept shopping the girls to other labels, and they finally got signed to Columbia Records in 1996.

*After signing with Columbia Records (the group was down to 4 members at this point) in 1996, Kelly Rowland, Beyonce, LaTavia, and LeToya became Destiny's Child. And in 1998, they released their first self-titled studio album, Destiny's Child. Their biggest single at the time, 'No,No, No' was released in the same year.

*Destiny's Child enjoyed even more success the following year, when their highly successful second album, The Writing's on The Wall was released. But then came some internal problems; LaTavia and LeToya felt cheated on how Mathew Knowles (Beyonce's father) managed the group, and let their displeasure be known. This led to them being kicked out of the group by Knowles, and replaced with two new girls. Beyonce fell into depression after this action was taken by her father, because the media blamed her for the split.

*Her boyfriend (Lyndell Locke) of 8 years also left her around this time. She spoke of this years later, and said that her depression lasted through 2000 and 2001. She said she couldn't speak on it because no one would take her serious as the group was at its peak of success at the time.

*While describing the concept behind one of her recent videos, where she appears to be breaking all of her awards, Beyonce said she wondered if all the awards, trophies, monies and fame was worth the normal life she gave up to attain those things.

So, my friends, there is no such thing as luck. There are no chosen ones...there are no specially blessed people. There are just people who had definite purposes in life, and staked every other thing to achieve those goals. Beyonce is currently worth $350 million, but she didn't attain that because she was lucky; she got that because she dedicated her life to entertaining people, and she got rewarded bountifully over the years.

  1. great writeup, but I think its a pretty long stretch for you to say there's no such thing as the illuminati simply because she worked hard when she started out.

  2. Well, I don't believe there is a secret society out there that would guarantee you success by just joining their organization. There are Universal laws which transcends any religious or societal beliefs. And you always reap what you sow...so if she worked hard towards a definite purpose all her life, why is it hard to believe that she got rewarded by her hard work? Why must it be that a secret society gave her all she has?
