Is There a Possibility of One World Religion?

Yea, that's the question I asked myself this morning. Is there a possibility of one world religion? I think it will greatly reduce the hate and wars that have ravaged mankind in the last millennial. I am a Christian, but I have been able to step out of myself, and just view the world from a freethinker's eyes, and see all the loopholes of all the religions in the world. I know that, even though Christianity (which has the most followers in the world) claims every other religion is false, it doesn't have all things correct. For example, Christians always blame Muslims of being violent and the cause of most of the wars in the world, but fail to understand that Islam is very similar to Christianity of the Old Testament. If you don't understand what I am implying, read some of the verses from the old testament I have put below-

Exodus 32:27-29

Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' "The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."

1 Samuel 15:3,8

Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' " … He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword.

   Hosea 13:16

Samaria shall bear her guilt, because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword, their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.

There are lots more very violent sounding verses of the Old Testament, but these three should give you an idea of what I am trying to say...people that condemn violence of Islamic people can't totally claim innocence for their religion. To add more to this, back in the middle ages, the Christian Crusades claimed more lives than Islamic jihads ever claimed. I am not tying to make one religion look better than the other, I am just trying to point to the fact that most religions of today are built on the notion of hating whoever doesn't believe and follow their doctrines. And because of this, we continue to have wars in this world of ours.

It us all a crazy circle. The people of Israel believe they are the chosen people of God, and so, they believe present day Israel (current geographical location of Isreal) is the land God promised them, and so fight all the original inhabitants of the land (Palestinians) with the mid that God is with them in the war. Americans align with Isreal, and also are enemies of the Arabs, because most Arabs don't want the control of their oil, or Westernization of their lands by Americans. So, Arabs go to war, and operate in a way they feel they can operate when they feel they are being oppressed...which the world sees as terrorism. And the wars go on and on and on...all in the name of religion.

Well, I'm not saying all wars have been fought as a result of hate between people of different religions, no. Of course, there is the longing for power and riches (oil), but there is a large portion of incidences in human history that wars have sparked out of hate for people of different religions. I totally believe that there is only one God, and we all, in different religions, communicate with him through different ways. Even those who don't believe in God believe that there is one source of Power/Intelligence that we all use, regardless of religion or race.

My conclusion is that, if there could be formed, a religion which can bring everyone in the world together, then there would be no need to hate another human being that you have never met, because he doesn't follow your own doctrines. And when there is less hate in the world, there would be more love among human beings. And thus, less wars. And if having one religion is not possible, at least let everyone be taught to respect the next person's religion.
