3 Weird Traits of Most Geniuses

You would see I said "most," not all. Through my research, and using myself as a guinea pig (yes, I consider myself a genius too), I have come to notice some distinct traits that are common with most geniuses. By the way, according to Webster online dictionary, a genius is an exceptionally intelligent person or one with exceptional skills in an area of activity. So, please, don't look at a genius as just someone like Albert Einstein. There are literary geniuses like William Shakespeare and Chimamanda Adichie, or you could be an entrepreneurial genius like Warren Buffet. Geniuses are found in all works of life.

Anyway, today, I am going to be looking at the dark side of geniuses people don't look at. Thorns might surround a beautiful rose, but it doesn't reduce the beauty of the rose. I believe it even enhances the rose's beauty. This is why believe people need to understand that intelligent people, great people, geniuses have some weird, maybe dark traits common to them, which a normal person might find repulsive, but it is part of what enhances the creations of these geniuses.

3.  They are Reclusive
Yep! Most geniuses are reclusive. Some might party every now and then, but mostly, because they are introverts, they need time away from the crowd to recharge. So, they might party for a weekend, and then disappear for weeks. They prefer to spend more time alone, working on their new invention/book, or just sitting alone, thinking of that new breakthrough idea.

2.  They are Mostly Men with High Sex Drive
Yea, I know that might sound funny to you, but it really true. Napoleon Hill studied hundreds of successful people for more than a decade before he wrote his great book, Think and Grown Rich, and he came up with this assertion. He even dedicated a whole chapter (Mystery of Sexual Transmutation) to this theory. This is what he had to say about great men and sex drives-

"Scientific research has discovered these significant facts: 1. The men of greatest achievement are men with highly developed sex natures- men who have learned the art of sex transmutation. 2. The men who have accumulated great fortunes and achieved outstanding recognition in literature, art, industry, architecture, and the professions, were motivated by the influence of a woman...

Sex energy is the creative energy of all genius. THERE NEVER HAS BEEN, AND NEVER WILL BE A GREAT LEADER, BUILDER, OR ARTIST LACKING FORCE OF SEX." - Napoleon Hill

Based on my own personal research, i concur with his theory. Just take a look at some of our own great men in Nigerian history- Fela Kuti, MKO Abiola, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, King Sunny Ade, Flavour, etc. Most of these men I mentioned are/were great in their respective fields, and they all have one thing in common...they all have/had high sex drive.

1.  They are Usually Fighting one Mental Illness or the Other
Yes, once again, this may sound odd, and unbelievable, but history shows most great men/geniuses to have suffered or suffer from one mental illness or the other. When people hear mental illness, they automatically think of a mad man/woman walking naked on the streets. But, there are really milder mental illnesses that people overlook, which affect people (especially great people) on a daily basis. Really, to think and achieve things outside the box, you would probably experience some conditions 'outside the box' too.  You get it?

The great Abraham Lincoln was said to have battled depression the most part of his life. Michael Jackson, who is considered by many the greatest musician of our time, suffered with depression till his death. All you have to do is to read the biographies of these great men to get a bigger picture of what I am talking about. These are a list of some mental disorders some of the geniuses/great men suffered from- Anxiety and Panic Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Substance Abuse and Addiction, Insomnia, etc.
